Q10 uplifts BlackBerry’s trademark to a new level

Now that the Q10 model is available in the market, let’s compare its physical design and main features with the first BlackBerry 10 model, the Z10, which was launched last January and became a hit in the UK and Canadian markets, according to BBC News.

Physical Design. At first glance, the Z10 looks similar to other full-touchscreen smartphones such as the iPhone 5, HTC One, and Sony Xperia Z. On the other hand, the Q10 resembles the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930, but with a larger touchscreen and an enhanced physical keyboard. Both the Z10 and Q10 feature elegant designs that align with current smartphone trends, marking a significant leap from previous BlackBerry models.

Main Features. The Q10, with its Super AMOLED screen, offers a brighter display than the Z10. However, the Z10 has a wider screen, featuring a 4.2-inch display with 768 × 1280 resolution, compared to the Q10’s 3.1-inch display with 720 × 720 resolution. Both devices are powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory, and both include a memory card slot. In addition, they are equipped with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and HD video recording, as well as a 2MP front-facing camera for video calls. One notable feature of the BlackBerry 10 platform is its ability to run Android apps, which could help attract more users.

Now the question is: Will the Q10 be as successful as the Z10? The answer could very well be yes. A BlackBerry device with a physical keyboard has long been a trademark of the brand and remains a key preference among many BlackBerry users.

UPDATE:  On January 6, 2015, I got my first BlackBerry Z10.
