Rakhiis Web Development

It has always been my ambition to put up a website in the middle east where expats, especially Filipinos, can use for buying and selling brand new or used products. Though there are already existing online websites, some of them are loaded with a lot of products that users find it hard to search what they want. I, too, experienced the same difficulties during my first year in the middle east.

So in 2008, I started to develop a buy and sell website that will cater to 4 products only — cars, laptops, mobile phones, and real estates properties. In this way, users can easily find what they need.

I’ve chosen to name the site “Rakhiis”, which means “cheap” in arabic, because I believe that most users would always look for cheap quality products even if it is not brand new.

The website was launched last April 19, 2009 and I had a hard time promoting the site in the first few months. So, I went to Dubai, Bahrain, Dammam, Khobar, and Jeddah to promote the site. And fortunately, some expats responded and started using the site. Now, Rakhiis has more than 3,000 members across the middle east and it is still growing. To attract more users, I started inviting small companies to become Rakhiis’ business partners. I also created a facebook page and twitter account for Rakhiis.

I hope Rakhiis will be popular in 2-3 years from now.

UPDATE: The website was closed on April 18, 2013.
